SOLAR GATEMODEL 560 SOLAR SWING FOR SOLAR OR MAINS POWERED SWINGING GATES ADCEC Control Boards Only !!! - 1 -
WARNING Before you do anything else, you must CHARGE THE BATTERIES WITH THE CHARGER PROVIDED FOR NO LESS THAN 8 HOURS EACH. Failure to do so will cause the batteries to maintain a low voltage memory and will void warranty on the batteries. The Control Board has a built-in feature to shut down if the batteries are below their operating voltage. The motor will start to open, then stop after 2 seconds and then again if you try to open by remote. This is a sure sign that the batteries are flat. Try to recharge. If they wont recharge, replace both, not one. You may even replace with a deep cycle marine-battery encased in a plastic surround. This may be needed if you are getting less than 6 - 8 hours full sunlight a day. Our most common problems we come across are batteries going flat. Make sure the terminals and spade lugs are fixed tightly. This is also caused by the Solar Panel not being correctly installed. DO NOT install under or on a tree, shaded area or near a mountain that will only give you partial sunlight through the day. The Solar Panel needs a minimum of 6 - 8 hours direct sunlight each day. It is also advisable, to periodically clean the panel to prevent dirt and dust blocking the sun's rays. We recommend mounting the panel where it sees sun all day, or request a Solar panel upgrade before you install it if you think you may have a problem. Make sure you read all instructions carefully, including lock and keypad instructions. If installed correctly, you will get many years enjoyment out of this product. All units are tested before they leave our factory and are free from defect when packed.
If you have a problem
during installation, do not ring our office. Our sales team have
limited technical knowledge on the product, most of the time our
technicians travel to remote places for shows and are not in
contact by phone, you may wait weeks for a reply. If you find an installer to install the unit, make sure they have some type of electrical knowledge and are reputable enough to come back for future repairs.
We happily warrant all components for their warranty period,
but do not do on-site visits, if you determine a faulty part, send it to

-10- MOUNTING
MECHANICAL LOCK AND CABLE FOR SINGLE FARM GATES
MOUNTING SOLAR PANEL (FOR SOLAR POWERED UNITS ONLY) Before mounting the solar panel, the solar panel must be attached to the solar panel stand. Remove the panel from the box and the cable clips from the back of the panel to free the cable ensuring not to cross the wires. Attach the solar panel stand directly to the back of the panel, lining up the holes and the slots and securing with the hex nuts, bolts and washers provided.
Mount the solar panel
facing North (in the Southern Hemisphere) or South (in the Northern
Hemisphere), tilted at the angle to the horizontal as indicated in
the table.
WIRING INSTRUCTIONS FOR ADCEC IMPORTANT: BEFORE WIRING, ENSURE POSITIVE (RED) AND NEGATIVE (BLACK) TERMINALS AND WIRES ARE PROPERLY IDENTIFIED. REVERSING OF POLARITIES WILL CAUSE IRREVERSIBLE DAMAGE TO CONTROLS AND WILL VOID WARRANTY. CARE SHOULD ALSO BE TAKEN NOT TO CROSS 240V WIRES OVER OR UNDER THE BOARD. THIS WILL INDUCE SPIKES ONTO THE SENSITIVE CIRCUITRY OF THE PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD. WHEN WIRING, MAKE SURE BATTERY OR POWER IS NOT CONNECTED TO THE BOARD
MOTOR Inward opening gate: Connect black wire to left-hand terminal of M1. Connect white wire to right-hand terminal of M1. Repeat procedure if second motor is used on M2 terminals. Reverse motor connections for outward opening gates. POWER Connect black wire from black terminal on battery to negative (-) on control board. PROGRAMMING REMOTE CONTROLS Make sure the batteries are in the remote controls ANTENNA The antenna wire is located on the F M R slim-line receiver. Where possible, it should hang out of the box, the higher the aerial wire, the better. If extra range is required, an optional external antenna may be purchased which is connected to shield and antenna on the slim-line receiver located on the S G 12 board. OPTIONAL EXTRAS PUSH BUTTON INPUT : The push button input may be used with any normally open push button, key switch or intercom and may be mounted anywhere. We suggest weather-resistant accessories to prevent false triggers due to moisture. PHOTO CELL INPUT Used in conjunction with through beams, this prevents the gate closing whilst there is an obstruction. An 11 watt panel must be used for this feature. ELECTRIC LOCK OUTPUT The electric lock output is used for electric lock models. A second battery must be used for this feature. REMOTE 4 DIGIT KEYPAD The remote keypad can be mounted within 50 metres of the gate, enabling you to restrict access to only those you choose to give the 4 digit PIN. Refer to keypad instructions for coding to the SW1 button on the FMR receiver. -16-
TROUBLE SHOOTING
PROBLEM SOLUTION Gate starts to open then stops after 2 seconds or will not
close even after pressing the remote control or push button
The battery is below 10.5 volts under load. Recharge
battery for 8 hrs and reset gate from closed position. Check solar panel
is in full sunlight and wires connected. Check to make sure solar
panel is receiving enough sunlight and is not in the shade. Failure to
keep batteries charged will render them inoperable
Adjust O L R and M1 and M2 pots (when fitted) anti
clockwise to slow unit down approx 1.5 sec before closing except when
electric lock fitted
This is caused by the gate shrinking in the cold making
the gate hinges tighter. Adjust the M1 or M2 pot clockwise to increase
force
Check that the battery is charged and terminals are
correctly installed. Battery should read between 11.8 and 13.6 volts DC if
testing with a meter
The control board works from bridging the P.B (Push
Button) terminals together but not from the remote control
Make sure the F M R receiver is correctly plugged into
the control board, the battery in the remote is ok and the indicator light
on the remote comes on when you press the desired button. Check remote
control is programmed as per instructions page 16
Check that terminals and wires are tight and correct,
check for dust or shadows through the day. Make sure the solar panel is
facing the sun, do not mount on or near trees or hills, it requires 6 to 8
hours sun or positive light per day. The solar panel will charge in .1
volt DC increments until battery is charged if testing with a meter. A
optional solar panel upgrade is available for problem areas.
Check angles are set correctly. Installation may differ on
each installation. Opening-angle diagrams are a guide only
Gate starts to open then stops after 2 seconds or will not
close when fitted with electric lock even after pressing the remote
control or push button
Disconnect lock wires from lock terminals. If the fault
disappears, then there is a short in the lock wire or the lock coil Make sure to always power gate up in closed position.
Doing so when in open position will blow the fuse. Also, check for
shorting of wires. Only replace with 10 Amp glass fuse for safety and
warranty.
Check manual key is not switched over. Make sure fuse is
not blown. If these are ok, carefully remove black and white motor Check adjustment of lock, make sure to set lock up as per
instructions, check level of gate and angle at which the lock strikes,
adjust as necessary
Press the SW1 button on the receiver for 2 seconds. There
is a red light between SW1 and SW2. If this flashes, your fuse is ok and
the control board has power. Make sure the remote controls have been set.
Reset the gates in the closed position, reset the control board by
disconnect and reconnect and try again ( make sure to disconnect all power
when resetting). If still nothing, look at batteries first, if charged,
then check the motor across the battery. If these items test ok, then
there may be a fault in the controls or the lock or gate may be jamming,
Check to make sure the gate is level and runs free by hand. If the control
board or motor is suspected as being faulty, send back to our workshop for
repairs or replacement
All installations differ from gate to gate. We have
endeavoured to relate to most common installations. Brackets and hardware
have been designed to adapt to most gates, however, you may have to make
modifications to our brackets, weld, extend wires or use different
hardware where necessary to suit your particular gate installation
